Aurora Group, a Nordic importer and reseller of well-known global electronics brands, teams up with Optilon to transition from being a fully sales-driven company to become more demand-driven.
It is exciting to announce a new collaboration between Aurora Group and Optilon! Aurora, a Nordic electronics wholesaler in an extremely fast-moving industry, has had a strong tradition of being sales driven. With the combination of being sales-driven and keeping a high availability with a process that is manually requiring, the inventory investment has increased more than desired. To tackle this issue, Aurora steps on a journey with Optilon to bring in a new process and become more demand driven. The transition includes the implementation of a new process for forecasting, inventory optimization and replenishment planning, supported by a new application, SO99+ from Optilon’s trusted partner ToolsGroup. The modules for Demand Planning, Inventory Optimization, and Replenishment Planning are included.
The project started in June 2018 and is expected to finish by the end of 2018. The joint business objectives during the project are to enhance the forecasting accuracy, reduce the manual planning effort, reduce the inventory investment and increase the service level on the right products.
The role of purchasers and planners in Aurora will in the future be more characterized by analysis tasks and collaboration than performing repetitive planning tasks. This will not only lead to increased business value, but also to a happier and more sustainable working environment – Jens Davidsen, Project Leader, Aurora Group
Forecasting, inventory optimization and replenishment planning is notoriously difficult due to the great combinatorial complexity. By adding SO99+ to assist, planners will now be able to do much more, better and faster – Lars Villads Krogh, Country Manager, Optilon
